Martijn Padding

Martijn Padding (Amsterdam, 1956) studied composition with Louis Andriessen at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, piano with Fania Chapiro and musicology at the University of Utrecht. In 2008 he composed his First Harmonium Concerto. This composition has been premiered at Arnhem Concerthall Musis Sacrum by harmoniumplayer Dirk Luijmes. Preparations are made for presenting this Harmonium Concerto in New York's Carnegie Hall. Both composer and performer are interviewed by Wim Rhebergen, editor of Vox Humana.

Harmonium music by Janácek

Recently a composition by Janácek was live performed on dutch national television. See: here and here
This performance was explained on television by performer Dirk Luijmes. A scientific study by Helmut C. Jacobs, published in "Brennpunkte II, Aufsätze, Gespräche, Meinungen und Sachinformationen zum Themenbereich Akkordeon" 2002 Bochum (D) showed proof that these compositions were originally composed for harmonium.
